I finished the felted Carmelita bag. I think its beautiful! This bag was designed by Isela Phelps and she taught a class on how to make it on a yahoo loom class website. You can find that site here: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/LoomClass/

Off the loom 03/19/7

I finished the following this past week!
First up is a purse I invented by mistake! Using Moda-dea Cache #788 yarn, I used figure eight cast on, then the double sided stockinette stitch on a 30″ loom I purchased on ebay from Craftmainia. I made a piece of ten rows to make the decorative flap, then stitched it all together. I love the way it turned out!
Next, I have a bangle bag (pattern is from “Learn to Knit on Circle Looms” book.” This is a fun and quick pattern, I will make many more!

Next up is another experiment bag I came up with using Bernat Bling bling yarn and green KK.

This bag is almost completed! It is from loom class. Isela’s carmelita bag. I was so excited to receive my AJAL loom so that I could make this bag! I need to cast off, and make the icord handle. Then the scary part, felting it. I just don’t have the nerve to felt it yet! LOL

Because I am new to felting, and its scary, I decided to make a small basket to felt with the same Noro Kureyon yarn that the Carmelita bag is made out of and felt it first. Here is a picture before felting. Oh I hope it looks this good when it is felted!

And last but not least, a cell phone bag for the trade on yahoo group http://groups.yahoo.com/group/loomknittingexchange/

This satchel is adorable. I will add an icord handle and make it a small purse.

The pattern was designed by Isela Phelps. She is amazing! If you want to learn to loom knit, Isela’s website should be your first stop! You can get the pattern from Isela’s website at: http://loomknit.com/patterns.html

I love Audible! This month they are offering free books… focusing on listening to books with your kids. I love it! Check it out!
This is what I am listening to now!
I love this author. I have read all her books, and I anxiously await the next!

Nineteen Minutes (Unabridged)
by Jodi Picoult
What the Critics Say
“Brilliantly told….The author’s insights into her characters’ deep-seated emotions brings this ripped-from-the-headlines read chillingly alive.” (Publishers Weekly)
“Every bit as gripping and moving as Picoult’s previous novels, Nineteen Minutes will no doubt garner considerable attention for its controversial subject and twist ending.” (Booklist)
“Picoult spins fast-paced tales of family dysfunction, betrayal, and redemption….[Her] depiction of these rites of contemporary adolescence is exceptional: unflinching, unjudgmental, utterly chilling.” (The Washington Post)

Headband

I was messing around with learning new stitches, and made this cute headband. It is easy to make, just knit as you were knitting a hat, turn up the brim, and crochet off. Then I added a piece of ribbon yarn for decoration. Cute!

This was such a fun project! I love the way it turned out! I’ll be making more of these for sure! The pattern I used was a free pattern, you can find it at: http://loominglaura.typepad.com/loompatterns
I used Yarn Bee Icelandic Jewels, Dark Citrine yarn. I got a great deal on the yarn from Hobby Lobby. Yarn is usually $5.84 a skein, and the sale was for .99 a skein!!! I love yarn sales!!

This is the poncho I’m working on. Using the drop stitch on yellow loom. It’s a fun stitch to work with. This is the first of two panels.
