She Knits Swap
February 23, 2008 · 1 Comment
I hadn’t been to the mailbox for a few days, due to the fact that I hadn’t left the house since the ice storm. I was excited to find a package from a secret pal in the Ravelry She-Knits group exchange. This is a fun group, check it out!

Inside was a bunch of lovelys! Socks that Soar on Two Circular Needles and Beyond Stitch books, both of which I can’t wait to dive into! An adorable tote bag that says “So much yarn, so little time” Ain’t that the truth! Gorgeous yarn….super soft Sirdar Eternity (wool and alpaca), Kint One Purl Tow Sublime (mohair, wool, nylon) and sock yarn…Araucania Ranco ( wool) none of which I have ever even seen before! Wait, wait!! There is more! Two bags of Stacy’s pita chips, my favorite! Thank you so much swap partner! I just confirmed that Anita was my swap partner! Check out her blog here!

ZarOne Scarves
February 21, 2008 · 4 Comments
Early in my knitting, I knit several scarves on looms using the Devo scarf pattern. While I like the scarves, they never really turned out like the picture of the needle knitted scarf shown in the pattern. I had purchased several different colors of the ZarOne yarn to make more. I decided to use one of the colors to knit the Devo pattern up on needles. I finally got what the pattern was calling for!
Size 9 needles, ZarOne, Color 94
Since I am very much enjoying knitting cables, I used another color of the ZarOne yarn to knit the Single Cable Scarf from OneSkein by Leigh Radford. Have I mentioned that I just LOVE cables? They are addictive like chocolate to me! I am powerless when it comes to cables. Hubby and I went to see a play last Saturday night (he only had to perform in a Saturday day show, and had the evening off.) In the play one of the actresses had on the most beautiful cabled sweater. I couldn’t concentrate on the play I was just thinking about the cables!
We are having an ice storm here today maybe even thunder freezing rain. Great day for a fire in the fireplace, and knitting!

A play about a guard
February 15, 2008 · 2 Comments
Hubby is performing this month in “Twelve Angry Men” at the Repertory Theater of St Louis. If you are in the area, it is a great show! You can watch a clip with Hubby as the guard here. And the very handsome guard…that would be my handsome hubby who just happened to bring home these yesterday.
I’m keeping him.

Socks?
February 15, 2008 · Leave a Comment
I have yet to knit a pair of socks. It is on my to-do list for this year. I ran across a blog today that I wanted to share with you.
Emily of Skyline Chilly is offering up the wonderful pattern called Pearl’s Diamond Socks and donating the proceeds to The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society in the honor of her Aunt Pearl’s birthday. Her Aunt Pearl has been fighting Leukemia for a long time. The pattern is $5 US. And it is a beautiful sock indeed!

Information about the sock pattern, copied from her website:
“It’s a sport-weight sock worked toe-up on two circular needles, and you can have the satisfied feeling of supporting a good cause along with the warmth and coziness of new knitted socks. Or you could go the extra mile and donate the socks to the charity of your choice, doubling the amount of good you are doing with your handcrafting skills and time.
- written for two sizes
- adjustable for Magic Loop or DPN’s
- detailed color photos for each step
- both charts and line-by-line instructions
- email support (should you need it)
- PLUS your $5 donation benefits a worthy cause “

Did you notice I changed the name of my blog? This name fits me better now
Yeah, so I have a lot of unfinished objects (UFO’s for my non-knitting family and friends) So what?
I present you:
Now, how could I not want to cast on with this yarn? Zen String Nirvana, soft spun. The colors, the softness. It MUST become something and soon!
My second Ring of Cables hat with the option B cable. This cable tends to roll when not on the head, but it plays nice and fits great!

I also cast on a pair of mittens. The only other pair I made, I tried to make on the loom, and well lets just say one mitten turned out to be adult size and the other child size! LOL I am using this awesome pattern. Did you notice it has a CABLE right down the middle…be still my heart!
