Hubby Socks and Grace

August 29, 2008 · 3 Comments

I finally finished hubby’s socks!  His birthday is tomorrow…and I have been knitting like a mad woman to get the second sock done in time.  So much so, that my index finger on my right hand is seriously sore, skin ripped and raw from the point of the needle.  What a girl won’t do for her love!

Happy birthday Babe!

If you are in the St Louis area, hubby produced and directed the play “Grace.”  Check out the review here!

Synopsis:
Steve and Sara, a young married couple, relocate from Minnesota to a shabby condo in Florida to pursue a hotel development deal. Their marriage and faith are challenged by seemingly random mishaps, some trivial and some torturous. Sam–their emotionally and physically scarred neighbor–resists their religious overtures but is drawn towards Sara for a healing both he and she can’t understand. The condo’s exterminator, Karl, a survivor of horrific events in World War II, inadvertently thrusts himself into the midst of this perilous love triangle, with results both hauntingly liberating and brutally vicious.

Is there a lab test for this?

August 22, 2008 · 6 Comments

I recently went in for a checkup, blood work returned that I have high cholesterol (260) and a mild positive for Lupus. I’m thinking there must be something more wrong…because…

I cast on 3 new projects in one day yesterday. I already have at least 5 projects on the needles, prior to adding these. Is there a lab test for this symptom? I have a serious case of it bad, that is for sure!

Mr. Greenjeans

I did not intend to cast on another sweater. I simply went to knit night, and one of the gals shows up with her completed Mr. Greenjeans. I had the Brown Sheep Cotton Fleece just sitting in my stash. I was powerless and cast on.

I have had this pattern for a long time, and I just couldnt’ stand not casting it on any longer. I had two skeins of Koigu KPPPM just screaming to cast on. I am weak. What can I say?

Dish Cloth

I finished the washcloths for my friend, and when I went to throw away the ball band from the Peaches & Creme yarn, I noticed there is a pattern on the back for dish cloths. I like dish cloths. So…

Dish Towel

I did actually finish a project this week. Three washcloths for my friend Sharon, who purchased her first home!

The Woods

August 17, 2008 · 1 Comment

I’ve been knitting washcloths for a friend who just purchased her first house. I’ve also been working on my Gypsy Rose scarf. The yarn is Knit One Crochet Too Ty-Dy 100% cotton, and I love the colors, this colorway is 289-Painted Desert. The Gypsy Rose scarf pattern makes for a very calming knit.

I’ve been listening to an awesome audio book. The Woods, by Harlan Coben. It is one of those books that you cannot stop reading.

the woods

Publisher’s Summary

Twenty years ago, four teenagers at summer camp walked into the woods at night. Two were found murdered, and the others were never seen again. Four families had their lives changed forever.

Now, two decades later, they are about to change again. For Paul Copeland, the county prosecutor of Essex, New Jersey, grief at the loss of his sister has only recently begun to subside. Cope, as he is known, is now dealing with raising his six-year old daughter alone after his wife has died of cancer. Balancing family life and a rapidly ascending career as a prosecutor distract him from his past traumas, but only for so long…

Over 10 hours of audio book, and I’m 1/2 way through. So far, it is a totally awesome book.

Summer Sampler #8

August 13, 2008 · 3 Comments

Summer Sampler #8

Summer Sampler pattern #8. I am several patterns behind the rest of the group.

I keep finding new things I just HAVE to cast on. Such as this adorable short sock. It is Fiber Dreams Forget-Me-Not sock. I used Elann Sock It to Me 4 Ply, Steel Blue 46460 and size 1 needles.  This sock was quick off the needles, a very fast knit!

What a deal this yarn is. $2.30 a ball. This sock took less than 1/2 a ball! Seriously…it will be the cheapest pair of socks ever! I really like the yarn. I ended up having to put a bandaid on my right index finger, because my knitpicks needle is sharper than I realized.

Forget Me Not Sock

I now have 4 socks that do not yet have a mate. Is this a bad sign?

Dangerous Days of Daniel X

Daniel X Image

James Patterson is one of my all time favorite authors. His novels always keep me up late at night, not wanting to put the book down. I’m so excited that he is also writing novels that are attractive to younger audiences.

James Patterson and Michael Ledwidge, authors of The Dangerous Days of Daniel X set out to write a brand-new series for readers of all ages, and believes that the best way to get people excited about reading is to give them books they’re going to love. Without a doubt the authors have hit a bulls eye with this book!

Imagine you are a young boy, and your parents have been brutally murdered. You discover that you were also born with very unique gifts. Not your typical gifts…unbelievable powers, such as the ability to control objects and animals or re-create yourself in any imagine you choose. The power to create. Think of the things you could do with such powers!

Now, imagine there is a list. Contained in this list are the top Alien Outlaws roaming the earth. And one of those aliens is the one that killed your parents. Daniel tells the story of his hunt for the alien responsible for his parents death, and along the way, he may just save the world!

If you have a teenager, or you love the Alex Cross novels, get this book! It is a page turner that excites your eyes with every page! Daniel himself narrates the book, and I found myself gasping at times, experiencing an overwhelming feeling of fear for Daniel. The type of fear you have when someone is telling you an amazing story with a big secret and you want to hear what comes next, but you also are a little afraid to hear it!

On the back cover of the book, it states: “…Patterson has written this story for readers from ten to one hundred and ten. Special care has been taken with the language and content…” As a Mom, I think that is just way cool! As with all James Patterson books, this one has action, mystery, and even some innocent teenage romance.

Gotta love it!

RPM Sock #1

August 3, 2008 · 2 Comments

I finished the first RPM sock today. I think this pattern is pure genius. It is fun to knit and very easy to memorize. I also like how the pattern works with the yarn, to blend in pooling.

I’ve also been working on Hubby sock #2, February Lady Sweater and the summer sampler. Hot, rainy summer days have left me so sleepy most days, so not much progress to show!
